WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) praised the House passage of the Federal Judiciary Stabilization Act, which will make 10 temporary federal judgeships permanent. One of those judgeships includes a position in southern California. This bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Lieu and Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) will help mitigate issues courts across the country have had with high caseloads and federal judge shortages.

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that five cities in California’s 36th Congressional district will receive a total of over $417,000 in community safety and justice grants from the Department of Justice. The DOJ’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) offers grants to help local jurisdictions strengthen community safety, advance civil rights, and support victims of crimes.

It's been four years since scientists rediscovered hundreds of tons of DDT—a pesticide banned for its toxicity and risk to humans—dumped into the ocean just off the coast of Los Angeles. For at least 15 years, Montrose Chemical Corporation improperly disposed of DDT into the ocean. After multiple lawsuits, the company and other responsible parties settled for $140 million—a drop in the bucket compared to the destruction it caused.

LOS ANGELES – Today, Congressman Ted Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the announcement that the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering has been tentatively selected to receive grant funding for their analog and digital chip design program. The anticipated funding will establish a Center for Education of Microchip Designers (CEMiD) to support undergraduate and graduate engineering students at universities across the country.
