About California's 33rd District
The 33rd district stretches much of western Los Angeles County. Covering many coastal neighborhoods along the Pacific Coast, the Conejo Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains, parts of West Los Angeles and the South Bay and the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The district is home to the cities of Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, part of the city of Torrance, the unincorporated community of Topanga and the neighborhoods of Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Bel Air, Harbor City, Westwood, Fairfax, Mid-Wilshire, Hancock Park, and parts of San Pedro, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista, in the City of Los Angeles.
The 33rd district is home to some of the most iconic vistas and landmarks in Southern California. From the historic Fairfax District of Los Angeles, to the waves of Zuma Beach to Point Vicente Lighthouse and the Santa Monica Pier, the 33rd district is home to diverse communities, the pristine Pacific coastline, beautiful hiking trails and some of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Southern California.
The 33rd district is home to the largest Department of Veterans Affairs facility in the nation, the VA West Los Angeles Medical Center, which provides medical care, wraparound services and housing to the largest community of Veterans in the United States.
The 33rd district also features key centers for higher learning including the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Pepperdine University, Santa Monica College, Marymount California University, Harbor College and the Mount Saint Mary’s University Chanlon Campus. Cultural institutions such as the Getty Villa, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Hammer Museum, the Fowler Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum house important art work and historical exhibits in our district. The entertainment industry populates much of the district including post-production and creative offices and major studios such as CBS Television City and Manhattan Beach Studios which create the television shows, documentaries and movies we all watch and enjoy.
The tech sector in the 33rd district is one of the fastest-growing economic areas in the nation, where tech companies are growing along Silicon Beach and in the South Bay. Much of the entertainment industry and some of California’s best craft breweries and wineries are located in our communities.
The area is home to one of the largest aerospace hubs in the United States led by the Los Angeles Air Force Base, headquarters for Space Missile Command (SMC) in the city of El Segundo.
Some of the most famous beaches, trails, and piers in the United States are in the 33rd district which is bounded by the Santa Monica Bay, including Santa Monica Pier, Will Rogers State Park, Liberty Canyon, Arroyo Sequit, Venice Beach (home to Muscle Beach), Point Vicente, King Harbor, the beaches of Malibu and the beaches of the South Bay.
The 33rd District is home to diverse cities, communities and industries and is the location of some of the most iconic views and locations in Southern California. It is an honor to serve the residents of this district.
