Congressman Ted Lieu, who represents Malibu in Washington, and Congresswoman Julia Brownley, who represents Ventura, are asking the federal government to look into potential for DDT toxicity in California's marine life.

Lieu and Brownley led other representatives from California in writing a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and EPA Administrator Michael Regan requesting they look into whether dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT)—which may be causing an increase in cancer in local sea lion populations—is causing cancer in humans.

In the biggest challenge to abortion rights in decades, the Supreme Court's conservative majority signaled they would allow states to ban abortion much earlier in pregnancy and may even overturn the nationwide right that has existed for nearly 50 years. The outcome probably won't be known until next June, but after nearly two hours of arguments, all six conservative justices, including three appointed by Donald Trump, indicated they would uphold a Mississippi law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

A series of flyers stating that "every aspect of the COVID agenda is Jewish" were found in Beverly Hills on November 28.

According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, the police found that the flyers were "enclosed in plastic bags" and "distributed to homes in several blocks in the northeast area of the City." They are investigating the matter.

WASHINGTON – Today, California Coastal Caucus Co-Chairs Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Congresswoman Julia Brownley (CA-26) led a letter urging Health and Human Services Secretary Becerra and EPA Administrator Regan to look into whether dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT), a pollutant that may be causing a spike in cancer in sea lions, is also causing a spike in cancer in humans. The letter follows a visit Representative Lieu took to The Marine Mammal Center, where he learned of a startling increase in cancer among sea lions.

Animal Wellness Action (AWA) and the Animal Wellness Foundation (AWF) applauded Members of Congress for pressing the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), the law enforcement arm of the service, to crack down against illegal animal fighting shipments that continue to be uncovered by AWA in their ongoing investigations. The lawmakers specifically call out the shipment of thousands of fighting birds shipped through the U.S. mail from cockfighters in the states to the U.S. territory of Guam.
