WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA), Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), and Congresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY) sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig urging the IRS to halt its plan to employ facial recognition technology and consult with a wide variety of stakeholders before deciding on an alternative.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) highlighted the news that the U.S. Department of Transportation will award nearly $5.8 million in Emergency Relief grant funding to repair damages caused by the 2018 Woolsey Fire. The funding is part of a larger $45.1 million grant awarded to the California Department of Transportation for various project sites requiring repair as a result of the Camp, Woolsey and Hill Wildfires in 2018.

Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg announced that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) would be receiving a $1.24 billion grant award from funds allocated in the American Rescue Plan (ARP). This ARP transit grant program assists transit agencies around the country by enabling them to operate and employ critical transit workers as communities manage the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
