WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed the Senate's bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and began the process of voting on the Build Back Better Act. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will now go to the President's desk to be signed into law. The Build Back Better Act is expected to receive a formal vote in the near future.

LOS ANGELES – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement on the efforts to provide homeless veterans at the Brentwood encampment outside of the West Los Angeles VA with housing options. On Monday, the West LA VA and community partners were able to help veterans staying at the encampment find alternative housing options and clear the encampment.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-CA) announced the reintroduction of the Arms Sale Oversight Act, which would align House procedure for reviewing major arms sales with existing Senate procedure under the Arms Export Control Act. The bill makes it possible for any House member to force debate on the House floor in the event that the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) does not debate a contested arms sale.

Outreach crews, sheriff's deputies and federal officials worked with residents of a homeless camp on the outskirts of the West Los Angeles VA campus Monday in hopes of clearing the longtime encampment that has become known as Veterans Row.

Some residents in the Brentwood area have long decried the encampment as an eyesore in the upscale neighborhoods, while also expressing dismay that many veterans were forced to live in ramshackle tents erected on the sidewalk in the shadow of the VA complex.

Five members of Congress are calling on cable and satellite television providers to increase access to Jewish-themed programming as a way of fighting against antisemitism.

The letter was spearheaded by Rep. Kathleen Rice, whose district on New York's Long Island includes a number of large Jewish communities. She was joined by four other members of Congress, all Democrats, who represent parts of the country with large Jewish communities, including Reps. Ted Deutch of Florida, Grace Meng of New York, and Brad Sherman and Ted Lieu of California.
