Most recently, "Rolling Stone" reported that Brooks was among several Republicans or their staffs who spoke with an organizer and a planner of the so-called Stop the Steal rally. And while NBC News has not independently verified that report, Brooks has also been implicated by pro- Trump Organizer Ali Alexander in the planning of another rally at the Capitol that day.

U.S. Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough vowed Wednesday to find temporary housing by the end of the month for about three dozen homeless veterans who have been living in a Brentwood-area encampment, while also saying hundreds more homeless vets would be given shelter by year's end.

McDonough toured the West Los Angeles VA campus earlier this month, including the encampment that has come to be known as Veterans Row. He said Wednesday the VA has deployed a team to meet with the vets living in the encampment and get them into housing by Nov. 1.

The number of Americans filing initial unemployment claims fell below 300,000 for the first time since the pandemic began, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

The 36,000 drop brought the weekly count to 293,000, strikingly close to the pre-pandemic mark of 256,000. The four-week moving average fell by 10,500 to 334,250, its lowest level since March 2020.
