Congressman Lieu is the first Asian American elected as Vice Chair. He issued the following statement after his colleagues elected him:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) are calling for the Department of Defense Inspector General to investigate whether U.S. Senate candidate Eric Greitens violated the Uniform Code of Military Justice in his recent political advertisement. The Members, who are both veterans, note that Mr. Greitens' advertisement promotes violence against political opponents, contains potential inaccuracies about Mr. Greitens' military service and falsely implies his candidacy was endorsed by the DoD.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica is about to receive a hefty injection of funds following Gov. Gavin Newsom's signing of a historic $308 billion state budget. The city has secured $16 million for three local projects.
The money will fund new city crosswalks, medians, landscaping, lighting access to safe temporary housing and more through projects led by Assemblymember Richard Bloom.
WASHINGTON – Congressmen Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) introduced a resolution expressing the House of Representatives' expectation of the Government of Russia, led by Vladimir Putin, to comply with the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocol. As Russia continues their malign campaign and senseless attacks on Ukraine, it is imperative that any Ukrainian soldiers and legitimate International Legion members captured are treated humanely as in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
Torrance has received $1 million in federal funding to aid the city's homeless response, officials announced Monday, April 25.
The money, which came from Congress' recently passed bipartisan spending bill, will help support Torrance's 40-unit temporary housing program — set to open in June at the Civic Center — and city efforts to clean and make improvements at existing homeless encampments. Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, helped secure the federal money.
