LOS ANGELES - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the Space Development Agency (SDA) awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation in Redondo Beach a contract worth up to $692 million. The award will support the development and production of a constellation of 42 satellites to deliver quality high-volume data in support of U.S. military operations around the world.
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) is urging the United Nations to address the human rights crisis in Egypt. In a letter, Rep. Lieu and other Members of the Egypt Human Rights Caucus are calling for the UN Human Rights Council to establish a monitoring and reporting mechanism on Egypt. The Members argue that the UN must do more to address what they view as the Egyptian government's systematic repression of dissent and civic discourse over the last decade.
In the letter, the Members write:

Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) urged the United States Air Force to immediately explore providing Ukraine with U.S. weapons systems. The Members, who are both U.S. Air Force veterans, wrote a letter to Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall outlining how the Air Force can support Ukraine as it defends its democracy.

TPS provides protection from deportation for individuals of a country where conditions prevent them from returning.

"Today is a somber day for the people of Ukraine and the world. Under the autocratic rule of Vladimir Putin, Russia has invaded a sovereign nation for committing the sin of choosing democracy over being his puppet. Putin has rejected calls for diplomacy and for peace, and as a result many innocent people will die.
Russia's military invasion of Ukraine drew a flood of bipartisan fury and condemnation from members of Congress.
