WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 1941, the Coastal and Marine Economies Protection Act. This bill, which he cosponsored, prohibits the Department of the Interior from offering any tract for oil and gas leasing or preleasing in the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf planning area or the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf planning area, part of which hugs Rep. Lieu's district.

WASHINGTON – Today, Representatives Ted Lieu (CA-33) and Katie Hill (CA-25) announced that the effort to authorize the West Los Angeles National Guard Armory to expand its homeless shelter services passed a major hurdle thanks to provisions in the House-passed National Defense Authorization Act. The effort, spearheaded in the House by Lieu and Hill, modifies the deed at the West LA Armory to allow a shelter to operate on the property year-round.
