Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that he secured $322,500 in federal funding to improve emergency and disaster preparedness efforts in the City of El Segundo. The funding was included in the second Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations package signed into law by President Biden.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency announced that it had entered into an Administrative Order on Consent with the City of Los Angeles and LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) mandating Hyperion Wastewater Treatment Plant resiliency enhancements. The agreement comes after 17 million gallons of sewage were discharged into the Santa Monica Bay following a catastrophic failure at the plant in 2021.
Nearly $2 million will go toward additional safety features in neighborhoods along Lincoln Blvd. and enhancing two Santa Monica affordable housing programs after Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA 36th District) secured the federal funds, the congressman announced.

Hermosa Beach Police Department will receive $963,000 in federal funds for what Police Chief Paul LeBaron describes as a Real Time Crime Center.
“I have had people actually ask me, ‘Where is it going to be?'” LeBaron said in an interview on Tuesday.
The Real Time Crime Center will not be a physical building, but rather a technology platform that LeBaron believes will help police identify suspects quicker, keep officers safer, and help them catch suspects who otherwise may not have been caught.
