REP LIEU SECURES OVER $320,000 TO IMPROVE EMERGENCY RESPONSE EFFORTS IN EL SEGUNDO

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that he secured $322,500 in federal funding to improve emergency and disaster preparedness efforts in the City of El Segundo. The funding was included in the second Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations package signed into law by President Biden. The funds Congressman Lieu secured will go toward upgrading the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) with new technology and equipment, enabling the City to be better equipped to respond to local emergencies and disasters such as hazardous material incidents, earthquakes, fires, severe weather events, and more.
“I’m pleased to secure federal funding to help the City of El Segundo upgrade its Emergency Operations Center,” said Rep. Lieu. “This funding will allow the City to purchase new equipment that will facilitate and expedite communication with the proper officials and residents in the event of a disaster. I’m honored to represent El Segundo in Congress and pleased to deliver these funds to help the City stay safe and prepared.”
This year, in Fiscal Year 2024, Rep. Lieu secured nearly $12 million in federal funding for 15 local projects across Los Angeles County. The projects aim to improve community infrastructure, protect the environment, address homelessness and more.
