REP LIEU SECURES OVER $11.5 MILLION FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS

This release was updated on March 25, 2024 to include Community Project Funding from the second group of appropriations bills that were signed into law on March 23, 2024.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that he secured over $11.5 million in federal funding for 15 local projects in California’s 36th Congressional District. The Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bills were signed into law by President Biden on Saturday, March 9, 2024 and Saturday, March 23, 2024. The federal funding will support local efforts to improve infrastructure, protect the environment, reduce homelessness, and more.
“One of the best parts of serving in Congress is being able to bring home federal dollars for important local projects,” said Rep. Lieu. “This money will go directly back into our community for projects like making pedestrian sidewalks safer, protecting communities from landslides and helping vulnerable neighbors secure housing. These projects will make our community safer and healthier. I am pleased to have fought for this funding and look forward to seeing how our local governments and organizations will use these funds to make our community even stronger.”
Rep. Lieu championed funding for 15 projects that will directly benefit California’s 36th District residents. These include:
- $1,000,000 for the Rolling Hills Landslide Mitigation Project
- $963,000 for the Hermosa Beach Real Time Crime Center

House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy. Taken together, the funding for California’s 36th District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.
