WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), Congresswoman Jenniffer González-Colón (R-Puerto Rico), Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) introduced the "Renewable Energy for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands Act," which will empower local communities to develop and use renewable energy sources. The bill creates a grant program for investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, smart grids and micro grids projects as well as training local residents.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu, Congressman Rodney Davis, Congressman Glenn Thompson and Congresswoman Ann Kuster introduced H.R. 2264, the Bear Protection Act. The bill seeks to prohibit the import, export, possession, transport and sale of bear organs. Allowing commercial bear poaching for their organs puts them at risk for inhumane treatment. In California, it is already unlawful to sell or purchase the meat, skin, hide, teeth, claws, or other parts of any bear.

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) sent letters to Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick M. Shanahan asking for answers on how much the U.S. is assisting the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. While the Administration rightly halted refueling assistance in November 2018, it is unclear how much the U.S. continues to assist the coalition in conducting operations and what specific forms of assistance are being provided.

WASHINGTON, D.C.–On the eve of the Capitol Hill Armenian Genocide Observance, Congressmen Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) were joined by over 70 of their U.S. House colleagues in introducing a new Armenian Genocide Resolution aimed at establishing, as a matter of U.S. policy, 1) the rejection of Armenian Genocide denial, 2) ongoing official U.S. government recognition and remembrance of this crime, and 3) the importance of education about the Armenian Genocide in preventing modern-day atrocities, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) led a letter with 26 Members calling on the Department of Justice to end its support of lawsuits aiming to strike down the protections of the Affordable Care Act. If successful, the Republican-led lawsuits would jeopardize the healthcare of millions, especially those with pre-existing conditions.

Rep Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), a frequent critic of President Trump, on Friday shared a "memo" addressed to Trump, briefing him on things that "do and don't cause cancer."

"Dear @POTUS: Your weird belief that windmills somehow cause cancer is concerning," Lieu said in a tweet on Friday morning.

WASHINGTON - On Saturday, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) hosted his congressional district's fifth-annual reception for the Congressional Art Competition at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Students from 19 different high schools submitted 172 pieces of art for this year's competition. These submissions included 66 photographs, 36 paintings, 33 drawings, 27 mixed-media pieces, and 10 other pieces that included computer- generated art. The winner, April Luce of Redondo Union High School, submitted a piece called Cass.
