WASHINGTON – Today, 15 Democratic veterans are calling for a stand down of ICE and CBP interior operations following the second killing by federal agents of an American citizen in Minnesota.

Millions of people across the United States who rely on the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to put food on the table are facing uncertainty as President Donald Trump has said he is withholding emergency funding until the government shutdown ends. Although two federal judges ruled that freezing SNAP payments is unlawful, Trump said he would withhold all SNAP payments until the shutdown concluded, in turn violating the court orders.

We’re in week two of a Republican government shutdown and Republicans have once again cancelled votes and extended their vacations.
This is unacceptable. House Democrats continue to show up for work, fight for the American people, and demand Republicans work with us to prevent health insurance premiums from doubling for millions of Americans.
To make matters worse, Republicans are now threatening to withhold pay from military personnel, who are supposed to be paid next week.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 8340, the Housing Unhoused Disabled Veterans Act. This bill, which Congressman Lieu cosponsored, would amend in statute the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s definition of annual income to ensure that disability benefits do not count against a veteran’s eligibility for housing.
