WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that he secured over $8 million in federal funding for environmental projects in Los Angeles County in the Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations bill recently signed into law by President Biden. These projects tackle several issues including fire management, reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and outdoor recreation and conservation.

Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that he secured $5 million in federal funding for five South Bay community projects in the Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations bill recently signed into law by President Biden. These projects will help the South Bay address issues around homelessness, temporary housing, special education, and safe cycling.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) participated in the official public opening of the Allcove Beach Cities Youth Wellness Center in Redondo Beach, California. Congressman Lieu requested and secured $1,000,000 in federal funding for the Center in the Fiscal Year 2022 government spending package. The funding has allowed Beach Cities Health District to build a dedicated health facility to expand the Allcove Youth Wellness Center, creating a one-stop-shop for young people to access mental health and other services in Los Angeles County.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) visited St. Joseph Center, a Venice-based nonprofit that provides programs focused on housing, mental health, education and vocational training for homeless and low-income individuals in Los Angeles County. Congressman Lieu secured $898,053 for the St. Joseph Center's Purpose Lab Employment Project in the FY 2023 appropriations bill.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Yesterday, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) visited the UCLA Homeless Healthcare Collaborative, a program that provides free health care, clothes, hygiene products, and social services to unhoused individuals in Los Angeles County. Congressman Lieu secured $592,000 in federal funding for the program in the Fiscal Year 2022 government spending package. The funding allows UCLA Health to purchase and equip two additional mobile clinics, expanding its ability to bring safe and accessible care directly to people living on the streets of Los Angeles.

WASHINGTON Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that coastal Los Angeles County will receive $22,601,025 in Community Project Funding as part of the annual spending bill that passed today. In addition to the funding for community projects, Rep. Lieu also had two bills he authored signed into law: The Driftnet Modernization and Bycatch Reduction Act and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area Boundary Adjustment Study Act.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), along with fellow California Coastal Caucus Co-Chair Julia Brownley (D-CA), led Members in urging the FDA to test fish and shellfish off the coast of southern California for dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, or DDT. In the letter, the Members urged FDA Commissioner Robert Califf to undertake this testing because DDT is possibly carcinogenic and has been found in unhealthy quantities off the coast of California.

WASHINGTON —Congressman Ted Lieu and Senator Dianne Feinstein (both D-Calif.) today applauded the inclusion of a provision in the defense authorization bill that will allow funds generated by easements at the West LA VA campus to support housing developments for homeless veterans.

Without this provision, funds generated by easements (the use of VA land for non-VA purposes) on the campus go to the U.S. Treasury's general fund rather than to the VA for use on veteran-related activities.
