These projects will help the South Bay address issues around homelessness, temporary housing, special education, and safe cycling.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) participated in the official public opening of the Allcove Beach Cities Youth Wellness Center in Redondo Beach, California. Congressman Lieu requested and secured $1,000,000 in federal funding for the Center in the Fiscal Year 2022 government spending package. The funding has allowed Beach Cities Health District to build a dedicated health facility to expand the Allcove Youth Wellness Center, creating a one-stop-shop for young people to access mental health and other services in Los Angeles County.

Congressman Lieu secured $898,053 for the St. Joseph Center's Purpose Lab Employment Project in the FY 2023 appropriations bill.

Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) visited the UCLA Homeless Healthcare Collaborative, a program that provides free health care, clothes, hygiene products, and social services to unhoused individuals in Los Angeles County. Congressman Lieu secured $592,000 in federal funding for the program in the Fiscal Year 2022 government spending package. The funding allows UCLA Health to purchase and equip two additional mobile clinics, expanding its ability to bring safe and accessible care directly to people living on the streets of Los Angeles.
