WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2476, Securing American Nonprofit Organizations Against Terrorism Act of 2019. This bill authorizes the Department of Homeland Security's Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) and increases its funding from $60 million to $75 million. In 2016 and 2018, Congressman Lieu sent letters of support for the program, which helps nonprofit institutions like synagogues, churches and mosques improve their security protections.
House Democrats have reached a deal with the US Department of Justice to get the unredacted parts of the Mueller report they have been demanding, and are suggesting they will stop pursuing a criminal contempt citation against Attorney General William Barr — at least, for now.
