WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the White House announced its intention to fire State Department Inspector General Steven Linick. Since the announcement on Friday night, reports say the IG's office was investigating the arms sales to Saudi Arabia, as well as Secretary Pompeo's alleged use of staff for personal errands.
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) sent a letter to the President urging him not to require graduating West Point cadets to return to school to hear President Trump speak during the COVID-19 pandemic. Doing so, Rep. Lieu argues, could put their lives and the lives of their families at risk.
In the letter, Mr. Lieu writes:

Democrats in both chambers of Congress are calling for an investigation into the Navy's firing of an aircraft carrier commander who had pleaded for help with a coronavirus outbreak on his ship.

President Donald Trump has described the World Health Organization's (WHO) assessment of the COVID-19 global death rate as being based on a "false number."
In a phone interview with Fox News, the president said he believed coronavirus rates were closer to "a fraction of one percent," and not the 3.4 percent rate that the WHO stated.
That figure was cited by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Tuesday, who pointed out the mortality rate was much higher than that of the seasonal flu.
