REP LIEU STATEMENT COMMEMORATING WORLD REFUGEE DAY

June 20, 2020

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement in honor of World Refugee Day 2020.

"COVID-19 has created an incredible challenge not only for our country, but for the world. This crisis will likely worsen global instability in ways that will make U.S. humanitarian efforts even more important. In honor of World Refugee Day today, we must renew our commitment to supporting those who are most vulnerable. In the past, the United States has served as a leader on refugee resettlement but the Trump Administration has severely curbed our efforts. It is essential that we reclaim our role as a humanitarian leader by demonstrating that the compassion we have for others is what makes America exceptional."
