Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed  H.R. 7024, Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, which included provisions authorizing the United States to enter into tax agreements with Taiwan. The provisions help to mitigate double taxation for businesses and individuals.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) led a letter with Congressman William R. Keating (D-MA) and Congressman Jared Golden (D-ME) urging the Biden-Harris Administration to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs to win the war against Russia. In a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, the Members urged officials to send Ukraine long-range tactical missiles systems to help Ukraine push back on Russian aggression and end the war.

Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), Zach Nunn (R-IA), Don Beyer (D-VA), and Marcus Molinaro (R-NY) introduced the Federal Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Act, a bipartisan and bicameral bill to require U.S. federal agencies and vendors to follow the AI risk management guidelines put forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu issued the following statement after the House and Senate passed his bill, the Accountability in Assignment Restrictions and Reviews Act, as a part of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act. Congressman Lieu’s bill builds on his previous legislation passed in the FY22 NDAA that focused on creating an independent appeals process and more transparency around State Department employees who are subjected to assignment restrictions.

Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) introduced the Protecting Americans from Unauthorized Surveillance Act, which would require the involvement of third-party technical experts in every court-ordered decision to surveil a U.S. citizen. This bill would require the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Court to appoint a technical expert every time it evaluates a FISA application. Currently, the FISA Court relies on technical experts for cases that the court considers particularly complex. Rep.
