CALIFORNIA AEROSPACE CO-CHAIRS LIEU AND CALVERT COMMEMORATE NATIONAL SPACE DAY

May 3, 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Congressman Ken Calvert (R-CA), co-Chairs of the California Aerospace Caucus, issued the following statement in recognition of National Space Day. In April, Reps. Lieu and Calvert introduced a resolution to establish May 3rd as National Space Day. Their National Space Day Resolution recognizes the significant positive impact of the aerospace community on the United States’ scientific and economic development. In the Senate, the National Space Day Resolution was introduced by Senators Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).

“Happy National Space Day! For decades, space exploration and research has helped to set the United States apart as an industrial and scientific leader in innovation. The United States has long been on the forefront of the aerospace and aeronautic revolution, ushering in new technologies that have made life better and helped us understand more about ourselves and the universe we live in.  Our hope is that National Space Day is a reminder of the incredible accomplishments we’ve made in space exploration and research, and a source of inspiration for our future space trailblazers.”
