The final bill includes four amendments spearheaded by Rep. Lieu to stop the emergency arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates; limit Department of Defense funds from being used at Trump properties; prohibit U.S. military refueling of aircraft in Yemen; and require a report to Congress detailing the U.S. strategy for Libya.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed his amendment blocking arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates through the President's emergency declaration. In June, the House passed Congressman Lieu's amendment to the Defense Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2020 on a bipartisan basis to block the execution of these 22 emergency sales.
WASHINGTON – This week, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) and Congressman Doug Lamborn are introducing the bipartisan "U.S.-U.K. Directed Energy Cooperation Act." The bill enables the Secretary of Defense to work with United Kingdom counterparts on developing directed energy technology. This partnership will enable both countries to collaborate on technology that can offer the countries a non-lethal defense against advance missiles and unmanned aerial systems.

WASHINGTON – Today, Reps. Ted W.
