Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi hosted a virtual Congressional Gold Medal ceremony Wednesday at the White House in honor of the nearly 20,000 Chinese American WWII Veterans . This was a long overdue recognition for so many Chinese Americans WWII veterans and their families.

Hundreds of celebrants watched the ceremony streamed on Youtube with Pelosi making the opening remarks, followed by the National Anthem, Color Guards and a prayer. There were old photos of the veterans in uniform that scrolled across the screen-the faces of brave Americans.

The ceremony recognized the contributions made by more than 18,000 Chinese American World War II veterans. Congressman Lieu, along with Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Congressmen Ed Royce (R-CA) led the passage of the Chinese American World War II Veterans Congressional Gold Medal Act, which ensured these heroes could be honored.

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passed the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act (H.R. 3884), or MORE Act. If signed into law, the MORE Act would remove cannabis from federal drug schedules under the Controlled Substances Act and enable states to create their own regulatory framework for cannabis. Additionally, the measure would facilitate the expungement of federal marijuana convictions and incentivize states to make similar changes.

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the Supreme Court declined to review a suit brought by Rep. Lieu and other elected officials seeking to address unlimited spending by Super PACs. In 2010, a D.C. Circuit court ruling enabled the unlimited Super PAC spending we see today and Rep. Lieu's lawsuit sought to remediate that decision.
