Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles) issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 1599, the so-called "Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act," otherwise known as the "Deny Americans the Right to Know" or "DARK" Act. This misguided legislation makes labeling genetically modified organisms (GMOs) voluntary and preempts states from regulating labeling for foods containing GMOs.

Los Angeles - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles) issued a statement after the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform unanimously passed the Quarterly Financial Report Reauthorization Act (H.R. 3116). This legislation was introduced by Congressman Lieu and reauthorizes the Department of Commerce's Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) program – a principal economic indicator set to expire on September 30 – for 15 years.

Nationwide polling data clearly indicates that an overwhelming majority of voters support four national strategic policy ideas, known as the No Labels National Strategic Agenda.
State Senator Fran Pavley, who represents the 27th district that includes Malibu, has earned a national reputation for drafting cutting-edge environmental legislation. Her 2002 California Clean Car Standards bill survived a Supreme Court decision and, in 2009, Obama directed that it become the national standard.
Pavley spoke at the Malibu Democratic Club's "First Saturday Speaker Series" where she talked about what she's working on in Sacramento.

Santa Monica residents made it abundantly clear at Tuesday's City Council meeting that the Santa Monica Airport has overstayed its welcome, but yet it remains – for how long is now the question.
Despite the near 40 members of the public who addressed Council on Tuesday night expressing their opposition to the city's proposed new leases with the Santa Monica Airport and other tenants, some hoping for an immediate shut-down of the Airport, Council agreed to a range of tenant leases.
