LOS ANGELES – Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D – Los Angeles) issued the following statement regarding today's Gate Opening Ceremony, Welcome Center Ribbon Cutting, and Long Term Supportive Housing Grand Opening at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. The event is hosted by Robert A. McDonald, Secretary, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
WASHINGTON - Yesterday, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles)’s amendment to H.R. 2578, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016 was adopted by voice vote. The federal government’s Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program is funded out of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)’s Salaries and Expenses Account. Last year, $18 million was used for marijuana eradication/suppression.

This year, almost 60 million primary school-age children will have no access to school.
