Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) introduced the Keeping Pets and Families Together Act, legislation to establish a program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to encourage the microchipping of dogs and cats in the care of shelters. The bill authorizes $25 million for the USDA to enter into agreements with animal shelters, allowing them to microchip their animals before they are adopted.

LOS ANGELES – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) joined VA Secretary Denis McDonough and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass at the grand opening of two new supportive housing units at the West Los Angeles VA. Buildings 205 and 208 will provide 120 supportive housing units for unhoused and at-risk veterans and their families. These two new buildings are a part of the VA’s ongoing efforts to open more supportive housing for veterans and follow the opening of a 59-unit building on campus in February.
