Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) introduced legislation that will help ensure federal prisons are better prepared in the event of a natural disaster or public health emergency. The Correctional Facility Disaster Preparedness Act, which was introduced in the Senate by Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), would protect the health and safety of incarcerated individuals, correctional staff, and other personnel employees during a presidential disaster declaration.
