VENICE, CA — The Venice Family Clinic received more than $3 million in federal funding this week that will help provide child development programs and family support services, according to Congressman Ted Lieu.
The local clinic serves patients from the Santa Monica Mountains through the South Bay and has a network of 17 locations, which includes two mobile clinics and an extensive street medicine program. Lieu said he was glad to secure funding for the clinic because it has a reputation for being a leading community health center in the county.
Mia Fienberg, a junior at Beverly Hills High School, won first place at the ninth annual Congressional Art Competition at the Otis College of Art and Design, hosted by U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Los Angeles). Students from 16 high schools submitted 206 pieces of art for this year's competition. The submissions included 70 photographs, 50 paintings, 41 drawings, 31 mixed-media pieces and 13 other pieces that included computer-generated art. Fienberg submitted a piece called "Contaminated."

At least, that's what Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., hopes. He's introducing a nonbinding measure Thursday that would direct the House to take a look at artificial intelligence, a bill that was written entirely by the online AI chatbot ChatGPT.

The Friendship Foundation has received a financial boost — courtesy of Rep. Ted Lieu.
Lieu presented the 16-year-old organization — which promotes friendship between youth who are neurodivergent and their peers who volunteer their time, among other initiatives — with a $1 million check on Thursday, Feb. 16, at Mira Costa High School.
Mira Costa was the site of the foundation's first Friendship Club.
Since then, Friendship Clubs have expanded to 52 schools in Los Angeles County, as well as Bakersfield, and the states of Alabama, Arizona and Georgia.
