Like millions of Americans, we're both living with a pre-existing condition.
I am honored to represent the best congressional district in the nation: California's 33rd district. I'm endlessly proud of our community, but I recognize the challenges we face around homelessness. That's why I've made it a priority to improve housing conditions, address homelessness, and support homeless veterans in our district since I was first elected to Congress. There's still a lot of work to be done.
Donald Trump has a history of using harmful, false rhetoric to paint minorities and immigrants as undeserving, dangerous and unwelcome. He claimed immigrants are disproportionately violent and threatening. He told some minorities to "go back" from where they came. He called majority-black cities rat-infested. He invited an artist known for his anti-Semitic cartoons to the White House.

It spends more on defense than the next seven countries combined and has developed many of the most destructive conventional weapons ever created to ensure that America can address any threat. Congress consistently authorizes investments in innovative technology and weaponry to protect our country and our allies.

Donald Trump's disdain for the law is no secret. Since becoming president, Trump has expended a large amount of energy trying to discredit the FBI, the special counsel, our nation's intelligence agencies, state attorneys general and other law enforcement officials I'm probably missing.
At what feels like one of the most divisive times in modern politics, the key to building bridges and finding consensus may be actual bridges. Or repairing them, at least.

When it comes to our future, there is no greater threat than climate change. I believe that strong federal action is necessary to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the world our children will inherit. Having a clean environment should not be a partisan issue.
