Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) wants to authorize $750 million annually in federally funded grants over the next five years for local governments to combat homelessness. He introduced the Fighting Homelessness Through Services and Housing Act on Friday.
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Kamala Harris today introduced legislation that would allow the West Los Angeles National Guard Armory to operate as a year-round homeless shelter. The armory is currently used as a temporary shelter only during the winter months.
In a letter to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, the members requested that the legislation be included in the next National Defense Authorization Act.
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), both Members of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, reintroduced the bipartisan Driftnet Modernization and Bycatch Reduction Act, which would phase out the use of large mesh drift gillnets off the coast of California and set a path toward more sustainable fishing in the region.
