REP LIEU STATEMENT ON BIDEN CABINET NOMINEES
WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement on President-Elect Joe Biden's nominees for his Administration.
"I am thrilled that in a little over a month, we will swear in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as President and Vice President. So far, the slate of nominees President elect Biden has announced gives me hope and confidence that our government and our country will be in extremely capable hands once again.
"We all look forward to seeing the final selection for Cabinet Secretary nominees. I hope that those selections will continue to reflect our country's rich diversity, and that Americans of different backgrounds will see themselves in our country's leaders. That's why I hope to see an Asian American nominated to one of the remaining Cabinet Secretary roles. Asian Americans have been, and continue to be, the fastest growing group in America.
"I believe that Julie Su, with her wealth of experience overseeing the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, would make an excellent Secretary of Labor. Dominic Ng, CEO of East West Bank, a former United Way Chair and Board Member of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, would be an outstanding Commerce Secretary. Ms. Su and Mr. Ng are just some examples of the imminently qualified AAPI candidates for these roles.
"There are also qualified Asian Americans who could serve as a Cabinet Secretary for the Department of Education as well. I look forward to working with the Biden Administration to bring us closer to a more perfect union."
