REP LIEU STATEMENT ON $1.3 BILLION IN FEDERAL GRANT FUNDING FOR LA METRO PURPLE LINE EXTENSION

WASHINGTON – Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the Department of Transportation transmitted to Congress the Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) for the Westside Purple Line Extension Section 3 Project. Following a 30-day Congressional Review Period, Los Angeles County Metro will receive nearly $1.3 billion in funding for the project.

"I am ecstatic that LA Metro has secured federal funding to extend the Purple Line, adding additional stops in Wilshire/Westwood and the West LA VA," Rep. Ted Lieu said. "The Purple Line will transform the region: Angelenos will have better access to and from the Westside, veterans will have better access to care at the West LA VA, and students at UCLA and elsewhere will more easily transit the region. I look forward to seeing the development of Section 3 and will continue fighting for greater investment in mass transportation funding for our communities."
