REP LIEU PRAISES $60 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT FOR LOS ANGELES HOMELESSNESS RESPONSE

February 6, 2023

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) granted the Los Angeles Continuum of Care (LA CoC) $60,000,000 to provide housing and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout LA County. Throughout the FY2023 government appropriations process, Congressman Lieu advocated for ensuring Homelessness Assistance Grants such as this one were well-funded.

"The results of last year's homelessness count estimated that 69,144 people were experiencing homelessness in LA County. That's 69,144 too many. We must do more to end homelessness in our region, which is why I'm pleased to see this funding come through for LA CoC. I'm grateful to the LA Homeless Services Authority, Mayor Karen Bass, LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and the many others who are working on the ground to get unhoused Angelenos off the streets and into permanent homes."
