REP LIEU HONORS WORKERS ON LABOR DAY

September 6, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement in recognition of Labor Day.

"On Labor Day we celebrate American workers who have shaped our country to be what it is today. Labor activists have played a critical role in American history – helping to ensure workers receive fair treatment and compensation. Labor unions have helped workers secure and retain protections like safe working conditions, equal pay, job security, better benefits and other goals that help workers lead dignified lives. Ultimately, these efforts have made and continue to make our economy strong.

"There is more that needs to be done to protect the rights of workers. That is why the House passed the PRO Act this year. If enacted by the Senate, the PRO Act will enshrine the right of every worker to join a union and hold wealthy corporations accountable for violating workers' rights. Fighting to make sure our economy is one where everyone can succeed is a Democratic priority I'm pleased to support."
