REP. LIEU CELEBRATES $1.4 MILLION GRANT AWARDED TO AEROSPACE ENHANCEMENT PROJECT IN CA-33
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D – Los Angeles County) issued the following statement announcing a nearly $1.4 million grant awarded to the Los Angeles Area Aerospace Ventures Accelerator Enhancement Project through the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) 2020 Build to Scale (B2S) Venture Challenge.
“As the co-chair of the Congressional Aerospace Caucus, I am ecstatic that Starburst Aerospace Accelerator, in partnership with UCLA, received key federal funding to support aerospace innovation in my district and throughout Southern California. This funding will be crucial in supporting students in aerospace engineering and expanding the workforce pipeline into this important field. I applaud the hard work of Starburst Accelerator and UCLA in this endeavor and look forward to seeing the advancement of this project as well as future investments in the field of aerospace.”
Since 2015, Starburst Accelerator has worked to promote aerospace innovation in Southern California by helping to connect start-up companies developing breakthrough technologies with government and private sector aerospace stakeholders. In June, Congressman Lieu sent a letter to the EDA expressing his strong support for Starburst Accelerator and UCLA’s application for a B2S Venture Challenge grant.
