December 22, 2020

WASHINGTON -Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House and Senate passed the Oversight.gov Authorization Act as a part of a larger omnibus bill. The billestablishes and authorizes funds for a central website where inspectors general can upload reports to be read by the public. Rep. Lieu introduced the House version of this bill with Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA). Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) introduced the Senate version.

"I'm thrilled that my Oversight.gov Authorization Act was included in the omnibus package that just passed Congress. Our bill will help the public more easily access reports and information from Inspectors General across the government. This is a win for transparency and accountability. IGs are an essential part of good governance-- They ensure taxpayer dollars are properly spent, and that federal agencies are meeting the needs of the American people."
