REP LIEU ANNOUNCES $330K GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR EXPANDING SANTA MONICA'S BIG BLUE BUS

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) shared the news that the U.S. Department of Transportation will award a $330,432 Enhanced Mobility Innovation (EMI) Grant to the City of Santa Monica's public bus system, Big Blue Bus. The EMI program at DOT advances a vision of mobility for all through safe, reliable, equitable, and accessible transportation services.

"This EMI grant will be invaluable to residents and visitors in Santa Monica. As a well-known feature of our beloved Santa Monica streets, the Big Blue Bus has served residents and visitors through safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for decades. It is a climate-friendly and equitable service that has proven to be an innovative public transportation model in our community. Investing in eco-friendly public transit systems like the Big Blue Bus is key to helping people get where they need to be while reducing damage caused to the environment. That's why I supported the historic infrastructure law signed into law last year, which provides the largest ever investment in public transit. I look forward to seeing the EMI grant help the Big Blue Bus advance and expand these efforts."
