CONGRESSMAN LIEU STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT-ELECT TRUMP'S INFRASTRUCTURE PROPOSAL

November 15, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WashingtonToday, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) issued the following statement regarding President-elect Trump’s infrastructure proposal.

“America is in desperate need of infrastructure investment. Democrats have been fighting for more infrastructure for decades, but the Republican Congress has repeatedly blocked our proposals. President-elect Trump’s new infrastructure proposal of $1 trillion is unfortunately far too tiny. The American Society of Civil Engineers has stated that our nation has an infrastructure deficit of at least $3.6 trillion. In California alone, there are 2,800 bridges that need to be repaired. What we need are bold ideas, not weak proposals. As a Member of the House Budget Committee, I will be proposing a budget amendment that includes at least $3.6 trillion in infrastructure funding. That is how we move America forward.”
