CONGRESSMAN LIEU STATEMENT ON HOUSE VOTE TO SUPPORT TAIWAN STANDING IN INTERPOL

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House passage of H.R. 1853, a bill to direct the President to develop a strategy to obtain observer status for Taiwan in the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).

"I am proud to cast my vote today in favor of H.R. 1853, a bill which has demonstrated a clear consensus in Congress for Taiwan obtaining observer status in INTERPOL. Fighting crime and terrorism is an obligation shared by all. I am pleased that the measure passed with overwhelming bipartisan support."
