LOS ANGELES – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) joined Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) and other state and local officials at the groundbreaking of five new buildings at the West Los Angeles VA. Buildings 401A, 402, 404, 156 and 157 will provide supportive housing for 380 unhoused and at-risk veterans and their families.

WASHINGTON – This Pride Month, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act, legislation that bans so-called “conversion therapy.” The fraudulent practice seeks to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity based on bunk science and has been recognized by a national community of professionals in education, social work, health, and counseling as a dangerous and useless practice.

The caucus will focus on advancing policies that support independent songwriters and intellectual property protections. Congressmembers Lieu and Cline will serve as co-chairs.

WASHINGTON – On World Refugee Day, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, were joined by 50 of their House colleagues, 19 of their Senate colleagues, and 15 leading refugee advocacy organizations in introducing a resolution reaffirming the United States' commitment to promote the welfare of refugees and displaced persons worldwide – including children – as they flee conflict, persecution, and torture.

President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law in 2021, making the day a federal holiday. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the emancipation of the last enslaved Black Americans in the United States.

WASHINGTON – This week, Representatives Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) urged the President to provide Ukraine with advanced drones to support its fight against Russia. In a letter, the Air Force veterans highlighted how these weapons systems would help Ukraine gain a competitive advantage on the battlefield. Previously, Reps. Lieu and Houlahan had urged the Administration to provide air assets such as A-10s and F-16s to the Ukrainian military, which the United States has since committed to doing.

The bill, co-led by Representatives Steve Cohen (D-TN), Joe Wilson (R-SC), Jared Golden (D-ME), Ken Buck (R-CO) and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), outlines Russia’s repeated support for non-state terrorist groups prior to and during the Ukraine conflict.
