Congressman Ted Lieu, D-Calif., on Tuesday urged the federal government to drop its push for Apple to comply with a California court order requiring it to help unlock a mass shooting suspect’s iPhone, arguing that the debate belongs in the court of public opinion rather than the court of law.
In a letter addressed to FBI Director James Comey, the representative requested that the agency withdraw its demand that Apple comply with an order issued by a California magistrate judge on Feb. 16.
