Los Angeles Congressman Ted Lieu Calls on DHS Secretary to Resign
Congressman Ted Lieu, who represents Los Angeles on Capitol Hill, said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem should resign, saying that her comments calling the woman killed by a federal agent a “domestic terrorist” are “disgraceful.”
“She has repeatedly lied to the American people, and after the shooting of Renee Nicole Good, she called her a ‘domestic terrorist,'” the California Congressman posted on social media. “Disgraceful. Renee was a U.S. citizen, mother of three, and had just dropped off her son at school.”
The Congressman was referring to Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother and U.S. citizen who was gunned down behind the wheel of her SUV on Wednesday in Minneapolis. Noem called her “a domestic terrorist,” and continues to insist that Good was part of a radical anti-ICE group that aimed her vehicle at an agent.
Lieu is among a growing list of Democrats demanding Noem’s resignation. Illinois Democrat Robin Kelly filed articles of impeachment accusing Noem of obstructing Congress, compromising public safety and violating Americans’ due process as well as abusing her office for personal benefit.
The Minneapolis incident has led to national protests, including in Los Angeles where Mayor Karen Bass urged calm while condemning Good’s death.
