Democrat calls for resignations over hack

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) on Tuesday urged officials from the Office of Personnel Management to resign following the devastating cyberattack that has exposed millions of people's sensitive information.

"I'm looking here today for a few good people to step forward accept responsibility and resign for the good of the nation," he said during a Tuesday morning House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing.

OPM Director Katherine Archuleta and OPM Chief Information Officer testified before the panel.

Both officials took a beating from lawmakers berating them for the agency's security failures that led to the exposure of potentially up to 14 million people's personal data.

Lieu said he was frustrated that either official had properly apologized.

"Sorry" is the one word Lieu said he had not heard during the hearing.

"When is OPM going to apologize?" he added, before calling for the resignations.

"I thank the gentleman, well said," said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), the Oversight panel's chairman.
