REP LIEU INTRODUCES BIPARTISAN LEGISLATION TO STRENGTHEN U.S. ENCRYPTION LAWS

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) reintroduced the Ensuring National Constitutional Rights for Your Private Telecommunications (ENCRYPT) Act. The bill, which was reintroduced with Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (D-WA) and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (D-CA), would preempt state and local government encryption laws to ensure a uniform, national policy for the interstate issue of encryption technology.

REP LIEU APPLAUDS HOUSE PASSAGE OF HIS HACK YOUR STATE DEPARTMENT ACT

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) applauded the House passage of the State Department Authorization Act, which includes Rep. Lieu’s Hack Your State Department provision. Rep. Lieu introduced Hack Your State Department along with Reps. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), Claudia Tenney (R-NY) and August Pfluger (R-TX). 

REP LIEU APPLAUDS HOUSE PASSAGE OF HIS WEST LA VA CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT ACT

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) applauded House passage of his bill, H.R. 711, the West Los Angeles VA Campus Improvement Act of 2021. This legislation will help the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) address veteran homelessness in the Los Angeles area. In addition, it helps VA use already available funding streams for certain homeless veteran programs, thus reducing the need for taxpayer funds. 

REP LIEU STATEMENT ON AZERI MILITARY ENCROACHMENT ON ARMENIAN TERRIRTORY

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement that Azeri military moved onto Armenian terroritory.

"I am alarmed by reports of Azerbaijan‘s military encroachment on Armenian territory in the region of Lake Sev. If the reports are true, Azerbaijan’s operation would represent a violation of both Armenia‘s sovereignty and international law. I call on Azerbaijan to withdraw immediately and put an end to hostile actions that undermine the goal of peaceful dialogue and negotiation."

REPS LIEU AND SEN MARKEY APPLAUD CYBERSECURITY LABELING PROGRAM IN BIDEN EXECUTIVE ORDER

WASHINGTON - Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) today praised the Biden administration’s creation of a new pilot program to “educate the public on the security capabilities of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices” through a consumer product labeling system.
