What is SS7 and is China Using It To Spy on Trump’s Cell Phone?

On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that President Trump often uses an unmodified, personal iPhone to communicate with friends and confidants as well as two other iPhones that had been modified by the National Security Agency. According to anonymous White House officials interviewed by the Times, Trump has been repeatedly warned that the calls he makes on these devices are not secure and that “Chinese spies are often listening.”

REPS LIEU AND MCGOVERN INTRODUCE BILL TO IMPROVE HOUSE OVERSIGHT OF ARMS SALES

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressmen Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) and Jim McGovern (D-MA) introduced the Arms Sale Oversight Act, which would align House procedures for reviewing major arms sales with existing Senate procedures under the Arms Export Control Act. The bill makes it possible for any House member to force debate on the House floor in the event that the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) does not debate a contested arms sale.

More than 60% of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ land-use agreements on its West Los Angeles campus are illegal or improper, a federal audit found, including leases for a Los Angeles city dog park and ballfields, Red Cross offices, a Shakespeare festival, a parrot sanctuary and the private Brentwood School.

REP LIEU STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF LIEU AMENDMENT IN FAA REAUTHORIZATION BILL

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate passed the FAA Reauthorization Bill, which includes provisions to reduce noise pollution and an amendment authored by Mr. Lieu. This amendment will require the National Research Council to write a report assessing the existence of non-leaded fuels that can be used by piston-powered planes.
