REP. TED LIEU STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S ACTIONS TO PREVENT OFFSHORE DRILLING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County)  issued the following statement regarding President Obama's announcement to use his authority under the Outer Continental Lands Shelf Act to permanently withdraw areas of the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans from offshore oil drilling. The action was taken in coordination with Canada. 

The many civilian casualties in Yemen that led to the blocked arms sale to Saudi Arabia

The White House’s decision this week to block a U.S. arms sale to Saudi Arabia is just the latest sign that the Obama administration’s patience is growing thin with the longtime U.S. ally, and its military conduct in Yemen. 

The blocked sale of 16,000 guided munition kits will lose U.S. defense contractor Raytheon about $350 million over the course of the contract, and comes two months after the White House condemned a deadly Saudi-led coalition airstrike on a funeral gathering in Sana’a.

REP. TED LIEU STATEMENT ON FAA CEASE AND DESIST ORDER REGARDING SANTA MONICA AIRPORT

WashingtonToday, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration issued an interim cease and desist order to the City of Santa Monica. This order prevents the City from evicting American Flyers, Inc. and Atlantic Aviation FBO, Inc. from Santa Monica Airport. In September, Santa Monica issued Notices to Vacate to these two tenants.
