REP LIEU SECURES NEARLY $1 MILLION FOR WATER RESILIENCY EFFORTS IN BEVERLY HILLS

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) announced that he secured nearly $1 million in federal funding for the City of Beverly Hills Water Resiliency Project. The Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill was signed into law by President Biden on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The project, requested by the City of Beverly Hills, aims to strengthen local water resilience and secure clean drinking water for residents.
“As our community continues to feel the impact of the climate crisis, it is essential to guarantee safe drinking water for American families,” said Rep. Lieu. “I came to Congress to fight against climate change on both the local and federal levels. I’m pleased to secure nearly $1 million in funding to mitigate drinking water shortages and address the long-term resiliency of our community.”
This project will increase the City’s local drinking water supply by constructing two new groundwater production wells within the La Brea Subarea of the Central Basin in Beverly Hills’ La Cienega Park. This is critical given that the Colorado River, which is currently a major source of drinking water for California, faces reduced supply from drought and excessive demand. This local water infrastructure project will help improve the City of Beverly Hills’ long-term water resilience.
This year, in Fiscal Year 2024, Rep. Lieu secured over $11 million in federal funding for 14 local projects across Los Angeles County. The projects aim to improve community infrastructure, protect the environment, address homelessness and more.
